I’m not sure completely certain how it all went down, but somehow Bryan actually partook in this experience as well (for those of you that know this meat and potatoes guy, that detail may appear quite astonishing).

Unfortunately, I was so caught up in the moments of being centered and trying to absorb every drop of this place that my photo taking skills and frequency were not up to par. Looking back, I missed a lot in terms of photo feedback for the blog.

Let me try to set the scene…

We arrived at Bangalore International Airport at 3 am  and were transported 90 minutes by van to Kerala Ayurveda Academy’s home campus: Ayurvedagram. When the sun finally rose, the beautiful grounds filled my entire being with their peaceful serenity.

That day began my 14-day Panchakarma…

According to Ayurveda, our natural state is one of health, happiness and an inner sense of well-being (all three are really one in the same if you think about it). Health is defined as the body being clear of toxins, the mind is at peace, emotions are calm and happy, wastes are efficiently eliminated and organs are functioning normally. Panchakarma (five actions) is a cleansing and rejuvenating program for the body, mind and consciousness. It is known for its beneficial effects on overall health, wellness and self-healing.

Throughout the following two weeks, my entire self was cleansed, nurutured, fortified, rejuvinated and strengthened. Spectacular changes took place within not only my body, but my emotional and spiritual self as well. To say the very least – I felt wonderful!

I finally allowed myself time to just sit. No stress, no to-do lists, no thoughts really.

Just simple, perfect, peace.

Each morning, outside your door, you would find your personally selected Ayurvedic herbal remedies. Then you would go about your morning routine of eye washing, nasya, a few exercises, morning walking, morning yoga and finally a delicious fresh breakfast. From there I would go to my first of 2 or 3 treatments of the day (special Ayurvedic body work).

…then yes, more down time to enjoy a freshly picked coconut 🙂

True peace.

The food was always declicious! (This is at a Puja Ceremony outside of the Ayurvedagram ground.)

Believe it or not, even Bryan found a liking to the food after the first day or two of shock 😉

He felt so good after the first week, that he decided to start standing on his head!
In all seriousness – Bryan has suffered for over a decade from chronic low back pain of varying severity levels since a highschool football injury. After our two week stay at Ayurvedagram his pain and all symptoms were 100% abolished. Bryan has not had pain since.

SPECIAL PUJA CEREMONY!

If you find the time to ask me about the special dragonfly who also took part in this tranformational, sacred ceremony – I will tell you. But it is much more beautifully spoken about in person.

NEW MOON PUJA CEREMONY

A few friend at Ayurvedagram told us of this special ceremony taking place in a nearby town. So we all  snuck away that night to check it out. The warm and honored welcome we recieved from the locals was beyond what I had ever imagined. I will never forget this special evening of celebration.
